“I was starting my adult life after college and researched different side jobs while doing the mental calculus of what is worth my time and what isn’t. I was working my day job and Uber, then started in this program. It bridges the gap between expenses and trying to get to the point where I could save what I was making. Having that extra six to seven thousand dollars a year really made a difference.”

“By being in the program, I was able to buy a house, which is really nice. It helped me get to the point where I could have that extra cushion.”

“The beer money is great, or how you spend the compensation, but those who are impacted are motivation enough.”

“It’s pretty easy to see if you’re qualified. You start with a trial donation, and you can see if it’s right for you. It’s not a whole lot of work honestly. Plus, you get a lot of perks aside from the money such as the glowing sense of satisfaction and you get free physicals that you should be doing anyway. You also get genetic testing done, that you would normally pay for yourself, so you get to know about your own health as well.”

“Times have changed where this isn’t a taboo subject. It should be the same as donating plasma. You are donating to help people have children who can’t have children. I don’t know if I am going to have children, but if I am able to help a couple who can’t have a child, it’s nice to help people.”

Does being in a sperm donor program affect your sex life?

“Yes and no. It’s not in the sense that I still have sex regularly and enjoy those moments. The only thing that changes is there are some days that I can’t do anything, but it’s not that many days. Some weeks I just donate once for that week and spend extra time with my girlfriend. You have that option, because of the flexibility in scheduling appointments in this program.

Have you thought about being an Open ID donor and future contact with donor-conceived children?

“With the offspring being able to contact you at the age of 18, it didn’t affect my decision to join the program. I am at a point where I would like that person to contact me at 18. I want to hear how their life has been, are they a happy person, etc.”
